Yoko Kanno Releases 3 Disc Anime Music Album
Last week, legendary anime music composer Yoko Kanno released a new three disc album very quietly into stores. The new album ‘Space Bio Charge’ actually dropped on store shelves on the 27th though this is the first that I’m even hearing of its existence. As mentioned, the new album is three discs and contains 49 tracks collecting all of Kanno’s very best from the various anime titles she has composed the music for. That alone should be enough to sell most fans but Kanno goes a step further with this by including within her chosen tracks songs that feature her band, The Seatbelts.
In the track listing, fans can see tracks from many classic anime including Macross, Wolf’s Rain, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Escafowne, various seasons and movies of Gundam and others. When it comes to anime scores, Kanno has earned her fair share of fans over the years so this seems like a very safe hit for her and with fans.
I’ve always enjoyed Kanno’s anime scores, particularly for Earth Girl Arjuna, so this is an album that I may find myself picking up before long. It has a strong mix of both vocal and instrumental tracks which will make it appealing to a much broader range of her fans. Any fans going to be picking this one up or do you already have all her albums so you don’t need a collection album?
