New Giant Mech Being Erected in Kobe! (Updated)

Well, you knew it was bound to happen: Japan is now getting to a head start on the race to raising an army of giant mechs. In addition to the 1:1 scale Gundam currently standing in Yokosuka; construction has begun on an 18m tall (about 59ft) replica of Tetsujin 28 in Kobe, Japan. The statue isn’t going to have any of the neat features that the Gundam has such as flashing lights and working steam vents but it will be a permanent addition to the park (or until Japan needs to activate them to defend the Earth from alien invasion) unlike the Gundam which comes down at the end of the summer. The statue is set to be opened on October 4th so be sure to check out the official site for progress pics.
ETA: Initial opening has been changed to October.
