And the New Right Stuf License Is: Dirty Pair TV
Alright, it’s been two days since the countdown began and now it’s finally to reveal the lucky winner. The new license from Right Stuf/Nozomi Entertainment is the original Dirty Pair!
Premiering back in 1985 and based on the novels by Haruka Takachiho, the series revolves around two teen intergalactic crime fighters/mystery solvers. Unfortunately their skills come at a price. While they may have the reputation of getting the job done, they also have the reputation of leaving a path of destruction in their wake in the process (which is somehow never actually their fault).
This is actually the first time the original TV series has been released in the US. ADV released all of the OVAs and Movie throughout the last few years but never the TV series. The series will be released in two box sets with remastered animation and will include all 24 episodes of the TV series and the final two episodes which were turned into specials after the series was canceled two episodes early. The first set is currently scheduled to ship in the fall and is already available for preorder here. A release date for the second set will be revealed later but is already available here.

RIGHT STUF’S NOZOMI ENTERTAINMENT to Release the DIRTY PAIR TV Series
Packaged as two DVD box sets & now available for pre-order!
GRIMES, IA, March 17, 2010 – Anime producer and distributor Right Stuf, Inc. and its Nozomi Entertainment division are pleased to announce the license for the DIRTY PAIR television series.
Two DVD box sets are planned, with the first currently scheduled for late Fall 2010. Each set will feature remastered video from the Japanese DVD release, as well as Japanese audio and English-language subtitles.
The Dirty Pair TV series follows the action-packed, sci-fi misadventures of Kei and Yuri, operatives dispatched by the for-profit World Welfare Works Association to resolve crises throughout the universe. Their preferred codename may be “Lovely Angels,” but their on-the-job effectiveness, which is only rivaled by the path of destruction left in their wake, has earned them a very public, very unwanted nickname – the “Dirty Pair.”
The television series, which consists of 24 episodes and two TV specials, is the first anime adaptation starring the iconic heroines of the long-running Dirty Pair novels and short stories. It features production by Sunrise (Gundam, City Hunter, Sgt. Frog, Cowboy Bebop,) and Studio Nue (Crusher Joe, Macross).
The Dirty Pair’s literary adventures – written by Haruka Takachiho (creator of Crusher Joe) and illustrated by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko (character design for Mobile Suit Gundam, Gundam Unicorn) – have won two Seiun Awards for science fiction and inspired an array of media, including anime, radio series and English-language comics. The first two novels, The Great Adventure of the Dirty Pair and The Dirty Pair Strike Again, are published for English-speaking audiences by Dark Horse.
